Custom Cartesian robot systems are capable of moving large loads of 1000 lbs or more over relatively long distances of 300 feet in a straight line.
This type of system is fixed and dedicated, but does eliminate conveyors fixed to the factory floor. AMRs (autonomous mobile robots) are useful to eliminate fixed product conveyance systems.
AMRs are available in several form factors and payloads including mobile carts, platforms and forklifts. AMRs navigate the factory floor environment, are taught acceptable paths and adapt to obstacles, and locate to docking waypoints with precision to 1mm.
